I feels like half the power is gone. The current mileage was 62,000. The bracket holding the clutch pedal was not fully secure and appeared to be broken. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any further assistance. They sold me a used car with a serious safety airbag recall.
Mazda most of the time says they can not duplicate the problem and as soon as I leave my car would break down on the way home. The most re-called car I've ever known of. Mazda filed case number 130341420 regarding the failure. It would display the oil light after only about 1500-2000miles. Filing this complaint since there is a recall issued for my same model year in Canada special program 76 for this exact issue due to snow and salt.
The contact stated that the oil coolant line burst and spilled oil onto the brakes. No one knows what that noise is either. The failure recurred several times. I was never advised this. To ensure maximum engine life it is essential that a large, well-designed radiator be used.
This is due in large part to the relatively high surface-to-volume ratio typical in rotary engines, as compared to reciprocating engines - rotary engines have a greater surface area exposed to combustion gases. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told there was no warranty or recall for the part. The dealer stated that raw gas was being dumped into the catalytic converter which caused a fire to occur in the wiring harness. This gives you a false impression of the engine cooling in cases where knowledge of increasing engine temperature might cause you to drive to lessen the heat load on the system. We have seen some improvement from improved sealing and directing the air into the radiator using a spoiler lip under the vehicle to create a lower pressure area under the car, to remove hot air. Automatically, they tell us we have to replace the battery because they need to do a diagnostic test to find out the problem. Under normal driving conditions the water temperature should not exceed 185°F.
The failure and the current mileage was 139,000. Modified lines are available to address issue but Mazda is not extending recall coverage to U. The contact also noticed that the engine lacked power. No additional assistance was offered. Second, antifreeze has a lower freezing point than water, which keeps it in a fluid state during cold weather. After owning it less than a year, with only 50k miles on it, it began to run very poorly.
This is the most dangerous car I ever owned. This faulty car should come with a warning on the front windshield. Coolant also keeps corrosion down inside the engine that may be caused by water. My safety has been placed in jeopardy, solely at the fault of Mazda, for not notifying buyers that the engine had incorrect maintenance specifications, etc. Change radiator hoses, heater hoses, and fan belts every eighteen months.
The engine lost 100% of it's oil and controlling the car was difficult. The speed of the vehicle went from approx 50mph to 10mph in a matter of a few seconds. Mazda replaced engine 4 times using original style engine that loses combustion, and extended warranty to 100,000 miles. I think it's a complete disgrace to an otherwise very reliable car. The engine light also comes on and random times, and I was told that it was because the gas cap was not on tight enough.
Instead of doing a recall, Mazda does extended warranties. The repair did not remedy the failure. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. I had it towed to Mazda of lodi, so the service department can take a look at the vehicle. Inspect the condition of the caps on the cooling system to confirm they are sealing well.
